About Shaka Social

Shaka Social is a Glasgow-based social media and content agency working with ambitious brands to create content that connects with audiences and delivers results.

We’re a growing team spanning creative, content, social strategy, account management and paid media, with a strong focus on producing great work, building strong client relationships and creating an agency where people genuinely enjoy working.

We’re now looking for a Junior Graphic Designer to join our growing in-house creative team.

The role

You’ll support the creation of engaging, social-first creative across a varied mix of clients and brands.

Working alongside our in-house design team and wider content and account teams, you’ll help bring briefs to life across organic and paid social, digital campaigns and other online content.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their design career who has strong creative foundations, a good eye for detail and wants to develop their skills in a collaborative agency environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing engaging creative for organic and paid social media.

  • Developing creative within existing client brand guidelines.

  • Adapting and rolling out approved creative concepts across different formats, placements and channels.

  • Supporting the development of larger campaigns and creative projects.

  • Contributing ideas, references and inspiration during creative development and brainstorms.

  • Responding to feedback and making amends to creative.

  • Preparing and exporting final assets to the correct platform specifications.

  • Taking ownership of day-to-day creative briefs.

  • Keeping working files and assets organised.

  • Working closely with the design, content and account teams.

  • Staying aware of social trends, platform developments and emerging creative styles.

  • Developing your skills through feedback, collaboration and hands-on experience.

What we’re looking for

  • A strong portfolio showing good design fundamentals and creative thinking.

  • A good understanding of typography, layout, colour and visual hierarchy.

  • Confidence using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • An understanding of designing specifically for social and digital platforms.

  • An interest in social media, brands, advertising and digital culture.

  • An awareness of what makes content engaging and effective on social.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Good organisational and time-management skills.

  • Comfortable working across a variety of clients, brands and briefs.

  • Able to take feedback on board and apply it to your work.

  • A willingness to ask questions, learn and develop.

  • A collaborative approach and good communication skills.

Nice to have

Experience with any of the following would be a bonus, but isn’t essential:

  • After Effects.

  • Video editing.

  • Canva.

  • Previous agency experience.

  • Experience producing paid social or performance creative.

About you

You’re at the beginning of your design career and keen to develop within a creative agency environment.

You have strong design instincts, care about the details and understand that good social creative is about more than simply making something look nice. You’re interested in how brands communicate, what catches people’s attention and how creative needs to adapt across different platforms.

You’ll have the opportunity to work within established brand guidelines and take ownership of day-to-day creative, while also contributing ideas and getting involved in larger creative projects as your skills and confidence grow.

Most importantly, you’re curious, collaborative and excited to develop as part of a growing design team.

What we offer

  • £25,000–£28,000 salary, depending on experience.

  • Full-time, 35-hour working week.

  • Hybrid working, with time spent in our Glasgow office.

  • 28 days annual leave.

  • Flexible Scottish bank holidays.

  • Your birthday off.

  • Christmas Eve off.

  • Christmas office shutdown.

  • The opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of brands and industries.

  • Regular exposure to social strategy, content production and paid media alongside design.

  • A supportive creative environment with plenty of opportunity to learn and develop.

  • Regular team socials and company events.

How to apply

Please send us your CV and portfolio, along with a short introduction telling us a little about yourself and why you’d like to join Shaka Social.

We’re particularly interested in seeing work that demonstrates strong design thinking, attention to detail and an understanding of digital and social-first creative. This could be client work, university projects, freelance work or personal projects.

A degree isn’t essential. Your portfolio, ideas and potential matter far more to us.
